Files & archives

Everything you need to manage files

Every screen uses the same reliable actions: copy, move, rename, share, compress and delete. Nothing is overwritten without asking.

All your storage in one place

Internal storage, SD card and USB drives in list or grid view with real thumbnails, up to 8 browser tabs, and a two-panel view for copying and moving.

Grid view with file thumbnails

Batch rename

Rename many files with a pattern, find & replace (regex too), prefix and suffix, or a case change. Preview every name first; existing files are never overwritten.

Batch rename with a numbered pattern and a preview of the new names

Search, even inside files

Find files by name or by the words inside text and code files, and filter by size, date and type.

Archives without extracting

Open ZIP, TAR (.gz, .bz2, .xz) and 7z like folders, extract one file or all, and create ZIPs with an AES-256 password.

Bulk actions

Select multiple files and copy, move, share, compress or delete them at once.

Recycle Bin

Restore deleted files to where they were. Items are emptied after 30 days by default; change it or turn it off.

Never overwrites silently

When a name is taken you choose: keep both, replace or skip. A replaced file goes to the Recycle Bin.

Favorites & shortcuts

Favorites, recent files and bookmarks, plus home-screen shortcuts that open a folder in one tap.

Save from other apps

Share files from any app to File Manager and pick the folder to save them in.

Search & sort in every list

Every list has the same search and sort: folders, Recycle Bin, Drive, WhatsApp media, duplicates, music and more. Your choice is remembered per screen.

Live folders

Open folders update on their own when files are added, deleted or still downloading, sorted as you chose. No pull to refresh.

Home-screen widgets

Storage, quick access, folder, recent files, search, cleaning, memory and Vault widgets in several styles and sizes, each one customisable.

Storage as your phone counts it

Files, apps, system and free space add up to your phone's real capacity, in its own units, and Samsung RAM Plus is shown when it is on.

Google Drive & network

Google Drive, managed like local files

Connect one or more Google accounts, or your own server, and use the same tools you use on your phone.

  • Your whole Drive, every accountBrowse and search all of Drive in several accounts, select many files at once, and download whole folders. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are exported to Office formats.
  • Organize inside DriveMove and copy between Drive folders without downloading anything, rename many files at once, and share a link or stop sharing it.
  • Automatic backupBack up phone folders to Drive on a schedule, on Wi-Fi only or while charging if you like. It is a backup, not a sync: deleting on your phone never deletes in Drive.
  • Verified transfersUploads and downloads are checked with md5, and a move removes the original only after the copy is verified.
  • Open and edit directlyPreview files without saving them to your phone, and edit text files in place.
  • Network serversSMB, SFTP, FTP/FTPS and WebDAV, with passwords stored encrypted.

Using several Google accounts? Choose a primary account, and turn on Clouds to see files from every account, grouped by account.

Privacy & security

Your files, protected

Sensitive files stay encrypted, everything is checked on your device, and nothing is deleted permanently without your confirmation.

  • Encrypted VaultEncrypt files or whole folders with a PIN or password, and unlock with your fingerprint. Folders, a photo slideshow, and a backup file you can restore on a new phone.
  • Private by designVault files open without being decrypted to storage. Give the Vault your own name, icon and colour, hide it from the menus, or put a calculator in front of it. An optional intruder photo is taken after wrong PINs and kept only inside the app.
  • App lockAsk for a 6–8 digit PIN or your fingerprint whenever File Manager is opened.
  • Security checkAn offline check, not an antivirus: it flags risky or fake copies of APK files and lists apps you installed that hold accessibility, device admin, notification or SMS access. It can also watch new downloads, and recommends keeping Google Play Protect on.
  • Safe by defaultReplaced and deleted files go to the Recycle Bin first.

Cleaning & storage

See what fills your phone, then free up space

Suggestions come from what is already on your phone. Nothing is selected for you, and cleaned files go to the Recycle Bin first.

  • Storage overviewSpace used by each category on internal storage, SD card and USB, and the biggest folders.
  • Free up spaceLarge files, old downloads, old screenshots, duplicates, installers of apps you already have, and WhatsApp media. Delete them or move them to the SD card, Google Drive or the Vault.
  • Junk cleanerEmpty folders, leftovers of uninstalled apps and duplicate downloads.
  • Duplicates, similar and blurry photosFind identical files by content, and pick the best shot from a burst of similar photos.
  • APK managerInstall APK files, and back up apps you installed as APK files.

Optional weekly reminder: a notification only when there is a lot you could free up or space is running low.

How File Manager uses Google Drive

When you add an account, Google asks you to allow File Manager to "See, edit, create and delete all of your Google Drive files" (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive). This full access is needed to manage every file in your Drive, not only files created by the app. It is used only to:

  • display your folders, files, thumbnails and storage usage;
  • upload, download, open, rename, move to trash and delete files at your request;
  • verify transfers with checksums, and show files from all your accounts grouped by account when you turn on the Clouds view;
  • export Google Docs, Sheets and Slides to Office formats when downloaded.

Your Drive data is never sent to Sigarda, sold, used for advertising or used to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for details.

File Manager's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is File Manager free?

Yes. The app is free and supported by a small number of native ads placed between content, never full-screen. Ads never appear in the Vault, the editors, the media players or during transfers.

Why does the app need "All files access"?

Android 11 and later require this permission for apps that manage files in all folders. It is used only for actions you perform.

Which Google permission is requested?

Full Google Drive access (auth/drive), so you can manage every file in your Drive. It is requested only when you add an account and can be revoked at any time.

Do my files pass through your servers?

No. Files stay on your device or are transferred directly to Google or to the other device.

What happens to my Drive files if I uninstall the app?

Nothing changes. Your files remain in your Google Drive.

How do I disconnect a Google account?

Open Cloud, tap the menu next to the account and select Remove. You can also revoke access at myaccount.google.com/connections. Your files are not deleted.

What if I forget my Vault PIN?

The PIN is never stored or sent anywhere, so it cannot be recovered. Keep it in a safe place.

Is the Security check an antivirus?

No. It is an offline check that looks for warning signs: APK files that are risky or fake copies of apps you have, and apps you installed that hold powerful access such as accessibility or SMS. It has no malware database and sends nothing to the internet. Keep Google Play Protect turned on as well.

Which archive formats can it open?

ZIP (including password-protected ZIPs), TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2, TAR.XZ and 7z. RAR is not supported. New archives are created as ZIP, optionally with an AES-256 password.

Which devices are supported?

Android 7.0 or later. The app is available in English and Indonesian.
